The Shopping Cart

The "Shopping Cart" is an addition to our Web Site that enables you to browse our site, and when you find a Video or other product that you want to purchase, just "add it" to your cart. Then when you have found all the items that interest you, just "check out" to complete your order.

How to Use the Shopping Cart

JavaScript

In order to use the cart, your browser must support JavaScript (aka "JScript") and JavaScript must be enabled. Netscape Navigator has offered this support since version 2, Microsoft Internet Explorer since version 3. As of this writing, these are the only browsers that offer this support. That's it, the rest is automatic.

Note that if you have JavaScript turned-off, you will not be able to take advantage of the shopping cart, nor the automatic check out page.

Cookies

The Shopping Cart uses your browsers "cookie" to remember which items you have ordered. You may have heard that cookies are bad, that they enable people to peek into your computer, that they can track the list of sites that you have visited, that they are the cause of the collapse of the free-market-system. Untrue. Cookies are the best way to store information (in this case, which items you have expressed an interest in purchasing) as you go from page to page within our site.

Our cookie will automatically disappear once you have placed your order or when you close your browser. If you are nervous about your computer being "attacked" by the cookie monster, you can (check your Windows/Mac/Unix/OS2/etc manual for specific instructions) make your cookie file read-only without effecting the cookies we use to track your order.

Security & SSL/HTTPS

Some browsers do not support Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) and the https protocol that is used to transmit secure data from your computer to our web server (many fire-walls are configured to block https also). If you are using one of those browsers, you will not be able to take advantage of our secure order form. We suggest that you send your order in via traditional methods (mail, telephone, fax).

The Bad News: In order to protect your data, https must "scramble" your data from prying eyes as it is transferred over the internet and then "un-scramble" it at the other end. This process will result in a brief, but noticeable, delay when you go to check out.

Privacy

For your information our web server automatically records the domain name, never the e-mail address, of visitors to our site, and aggregate information on which pages are viewed. This information is used solely to maintain and improve our Web pages.

If you send us an order, or correspond with us via email, we will use your address for direct communication with you. You may, on our order form, request to join our email newsletter list. Otherwise, we will only email you in response to your order or queries about products.

Older Browsers

Some browsers do not support JavaScript. If you are using one of those browsers, you will not be able to take advantage of our Shopping Cart system. You can still browse our web site, and place orders from our Check Out form -- only you will have to manually enter the names and prices of the items you want to order.
