Portland says “Kiss Me Goodbye” “one of the lost jewels in the treasure chest of 80’s teen movies” and coming soon the new restoration of “SUCCESS”
Dear Friends, after a smash screening in Tucson, Arizona, AREN’T YOU EVEN GONNA KISS ME GOODBYE? Opens tonight in Portland Oregon at the Clinton Street Theater. It’s taken twenty years to get there, but there we are.
We’ve already gotten some terrific reviews – RIVER PHOENIX RISES AGAIN IN RESTORED MOVIE, says the PORTLAND TRIBUNE. “THE FILM IS ONE OF THE LOST JEWELS IN THE TREASURE CHEST OF 80’s TEEN MOVIES,” says the PORTLAND MERCURY and most notable of all, perhaps, is a notice on Craig’s List that says: “We’re a diverse group of 20-something men and women, single, dating and married, who like to see neat films with neat folks. Next week we’re heading to SE to see Aren’t You Even Gonna Kiss Me Goodbye?, a previously unreleased film with River Phoenix! Who: You? What: Aren’t You Even Gonna Kiss Me Goodye/ When: Monday, September 15th at 7PM. Where: Clinton Street Theater (2522 SE Clinton).
I know that River’s fans are incredibly happy about this, and I am too. There will be more theaters announced soon.
AND NOT TO BE OUTDONE, the newly restored never-shown SUCCESS starring Jeff Bridges, Belinda Bauer, Ned Beatty and Bianca Jagger!!
Very Best to All and Cheers and ONWARD!
Here’s the blurb KISS ME: “Discover the lost River Phoenix film AREN’T YOU EVEN GONNA KISS ME GOODBYE, the legendary young actor’s first starring role in a movie that is being shown at the Clinton Street Theater the first time ever to general audiences after twenty years in seclusion, with a brand new song by Johnny Mathis and a never-heard score by academy award winner Elmer Bernstein. This is the original director’s cut of a film the LA Times described Jimmy Reardon is a very hardy boy indeed. He combines the ingenuity of Tom Sawyer, the deviousness of Duddy Kravitz, the yearning of Holden Caulfield, the frustrated passion of ‘The Graduate’s’ Benjamin and the sheer randy exuberance of Henry Miller in his Paris Days.’ Also starring Ann Magnuson, Meredith Salenger — voted hottest teen star of the 80’s by Maxim for her brilliant performance — Louanne, Paul Koslo — and this is also the movie that introduced a very and young and funny Matthew Perry.”
You can see work-in-progress trailers and some of the scenes from the movie at youtube site EUCLID1423, which is my “try out” site for internet distribution.
