I think that Beauty and the Beast is unique and satisfies the modern need for ancient myths. Above ground and below ground is one of the best metaphors of contrasting ideas of Beauty and the Beast. A lot of us see the modern world as a beastly place. We would like someone to show us the beauty of it and inside ourselves. This series does this. A place of no hope becomes a place of possibility. A undeniable love challenges us and all relationships to actively redefine our understanding and relationship with the world.
What's on the inside of a person, his knowledge, love and passions should
be valued over external appearances. I think that this is the major message of a series that has gone beyond the rating game expectations of everyday television to become a classic myth to others on a inward journey.
