Writer/director Jacky Kang was born in 1962 at Masan, Korea. Kang attended ChungAng University, majoring in Film and Drama, before making a feature film debut with The Gingko Bed in 1996. This film appeared in Cannes, Stockholm, and Brussels as well as at the New York Asian-American International Film Festival that year.
