(1953/83m) Hugh Wakefield, Derek Bond. A jealous wife makes her husband go through numerous escapades to prove himself innocent of infidelity .

CAST A DARK SHADOW
(1957) Dirk Bogarde, Margaret Lockwood. Suspenseful British made thriller about a scoundrel who marries for money then murders his wives. Directed by Lewis (Educating Rita) Gilbert. 84 minutes.

CIRCLE OF DANGER
(1955/86m) Ray Milland, Naunton Wayne. An American adventurer sets off for England to uncover the truth about his brother's mysterious death in a special combat unit during WW2. Directed by Jacques Tourneur.

CORN'S A POPPIN'
(1957) Richard Wallace. First film written by then aspiring director Robert Altman is a low budget fiasco shot in Kansas City. It's a spoof about a popcorn company sponsoring a country-western television program with lots of music and hokey comedy (and predates Nashville by about 20 years!). 65 min.

CRIME OF DR. CRESPI
(1935) Erich von Stroheim, Harriet Russell. A mad surgeon (von Stroheim) plans horrible revenge on his rival in love by hurying him alive. 61 minutes.

CROWDED PARADISE
(1956/94m) Hume Cronyn, Frank Silvera, Nancy Kelly. Young Puerto Rican comes to New York to marry his longtime sweetheart, dreaming of success and a better life. Instead he finds bigotry and discrimination beating them at every turn. Well developed social drama with good performances, particularly Cronyn's as an immigrant hating janitor.

EAGLES ATTACK AT DAWN
(1974/93m) Rick Jason, Peter Brown, Joseph Shiloal. After escaping from the Arabs, an Israeli soldier pledges to return with a small force to destroy the sadistic commander of the prison whose torture left an indelible impression on him.

THE FIRST TIME
(1967/83m) Alain Cohen, Charles Denner. A hilarious and perhaps autobiographical coming of age story from director Claude Berri. Set in 1952, it follows the escapades of the young artist and his buddies in their quest for girls and that rite of passage--"the first time". French dialog w/English subtitles.

FLATFOOT
(1971/93m) Bud Spencer. Italian made action comedy finds Trinity star Spencer as a maverick cop on the trail of gangsters peddling drugs to school kids. Great mix of slam bang action and hilarious situations.

GANGSTER STORY
(1960) Waiter Matthau, Carol Grace. Notorious bank robber tries breaking away from the mob he's headed when he falls in love, but it's too late and they (and the police) are after him. Interesting that Matthau also directed this early opus! 65 minutes.

THE HARASSED HERO
(1954/72m) Guy Middleton, Evelyn Brook Jones. Comedy about a bachelor who accidentally becomes involved with a gang of counterfeiters and the trouble that ensues.

HER BRIDAL NIGHT
(1953/85m) Brigitte Bardot, Louis Jourdan. Sprightly comedy about a beautiful young girl chosen for a magazine layout who winds up faking a wedding ceremony and marriage. Early effort by the gorgeous Bardot and delightfully entertaining.

HUNGRY HILL
(1947/108m) Margaret Lockwood, Dennis Price, Jean Simmons, Cecil Parker. Life and loves of a wealthy Irish family and the making of their mining dynasty built on generations of treachery. From a novel by Daphne du Maurier.

THE INHERITANCE
(1947/90m) Jean Simmons, Derrick DeMarney. Exciting and atmospheric period thriller about a Victorian girl challenged by her villainous uncle's attempts to do her in and make off with the family inheritance.

JOHNNY ONE-EYE
(1950) Pat O'Brien, Waynt: Morris. This sentimental Damon Runyon tale tells the story of a mobster whose past catches up with him but not before he's reformed by his love for a little girl and her dog. 74 minutes.

LA GUERRE EST FINIE
(1966/120m) Yves Montand, Genevieve Bujold, Michel Piccoli. Aging revolutionary finds his idealism destroyed when he returns from exile to visit his longtime mistress. Complex and perceptive film from director Alain Resnais. French dialog w/English subtitles.

LAND OF FURY
(1954/82m) Jack Hawkins, Glynis Johns, Noel Purcell. Well cast, fine outdoor drama of the dangers and hardship facing a British couple pioneering in old New Zealand.

LET'S MAKE UP (aka Lilacs in the Spring)
(1955) Errol Flynn, Anna Neagle. Flynn stars as a neer-do-well vaudevillian who marries his leading lady and find their careers clashing when he hits it big in the movies. 65 minutes.

THE LION HAS WINGS
(1939) Merle Oberon, Ralph Richardson. Michael Powell directed this "docudrama" styled propaganda dramatizing England's entry into WW2 and the strength of the RAF. 76 minutes.

MAGIC BOW, THE
(1946/106m) Stewart Granger, Phyllis Calvert, Cecil Parker, Dennis Price A rare treat for classical music lovers. Granger portrays the youthful Paganini in this biography of the virtuoso violinist. Offscreen solos are provided by Yehudi Menuhin.

MAN WHO CHEATED HIMSELF
(1950) Lee J. Cohb, Jane Wyatt. Good 50s criilne drama (akin to Double Indemnity) about an honest cop who, falls for a cheating dame and helps her by covering up a murder. 81 minutes.

THE MARRIED WOMAN
(1964/94m) Macha Meril, Philippe Leroy. Up close yet oddly detached portrait of a woman and her long standing relationship with her lover. Delicate subject given a "new wave" treatment by director Jean-Luc Godard. French dialog w/English subtitles.

MAYTIME IN MAYFAIR
(1949/110m) Anna Neagle, Michael Wilding. Love and rivalry in the mysterious and magical fashion salons of London. A sophisticated comedy including all the sights of Mayfair.

MOONRAKER
(1957/82m) George Baker, Sylvia Syms. Set in England in 1651, this film depicts the escape of Charles Stuart and his followers from the "Roundheads" (followers of Oliver Cromwell).

NEW MEXICO
(1951) Lew Ayres, Andy Devine, Raymond Burr. Exciting western action about a cavalry outpost besieged by Indian attacks in the old west. 78 minutes, B&W.

NIGHT TRAIN TO MUNICH
(1940) Rex Harrison, Margaret Lockwood, Paul Henreid. Carol Reed directed this Hitchcock like thriller about a British itelligence agent attempting to rescue a Czech scientist from the Nazi's. Scripted (not surprisingly) by Launder & Gilliat who co-wrote Hitchcock's The Lady Vanishes. 93 minutes.

OTHELLO
(1955/108m) Sergei Bondarchuk. Director Sergei Yutkevitch won best director honors at Cannes for this adaptation of Shakespeare's play. Bondarchuk's performance is outstanding as the Moor of Venice whose tragic downfall comes from his lack of faith. English dubbed.

THE PHONEY AMERICAN
(1961/74m) William Bendix, Christina Kaufmann, Ron Randall. Amusing comedy-drama about a German orphan, raised by an air force pilot, pretending to be American in order to join the military. One of Bendix's last roles as a blustery but good hearted sergeant.

RED LANTERNS
(1963/85m) Jenny Karezi. A prostitute falls in love with a sailor and wishes to leave her occupation for a new life. Directed by Vassilis Georgiadis. Greek dialog w/English subtitles.

RIDING ON AIR
(1937) Joe E. Brown, Guy Kibbee. Typical Brown vehicle finds him mixed up with smugglers and a wacky invention to control airplanes by a remote radio beam. First complete 71 minute version on video!

THE SAVAGE EYE
(1959) Barbara Baxley, Gary Merrill. A totally unique and ground breaking avant-garde docudrama (predating the films of John Cassevetes) which follows a recently divorced woman as she explores the seamy side of life in Los Angeles. Directed by Sidney Myers, Joseph Strick and Haskell Wexler. 64 min.

SHAME (aka NOT WANTED)
(1949/94m) Sally Forrest, Keefe Brasselle. Well intentioned account of taboo subject matter. A young unwed mother must deal with ostracism and disillusionment, Produced and co-scripted by actress Ida Lupino.

SPOTLIGHT SCANDALS
(1943/69m) Frank Fay, Billy Gilbert, Harry Langdon. Fay stars as a washed up vaudevillian who teams with a barber (Gilbert) to create a smash Broadway revue. Specialty numbers by Bonnie Baker and the Radio Rogues.

THE THIRD KEY
(1955/94m) Jack Hawkins, Geoffrey Keene. This exciting mystery details the efforts of two Scotland Yard inspectors on the trail of a safecracker following an unusual series of crimes.

TIME OF INDIFFERENCE
(1964) Rod Steiger, Claudia Cardinale, Shelley Winters, Paulette Goddard. Compelling drama from an Alberto Moravia story about disintegration and decay in a wealthy family circa 1920s Italy. 84 minutes.

THE TWELFTH NIGHT
(1956/88m) Klara Luchko, Alla Larionova. Russian adaptation of Shakespeare's witty and lyrical comedy is very entertaining and handsomely mounted. This presentation remains the only filmed version of this great play. English dubbed.

21 DAYS
(1938) Laurence Olivier, Vivien Leigh. Early Olivier-Leigh effort about a young lawyer who has committed murder, finding he has three weeks with his love before justice intervenes. Scripted by Graham Greene from a John Galsworthy story. 72 minutes.

WHAT!
(1973) Marcello Mastroianni, Hugh Griffith, Roman Polanski, Sydne Rome. Ribald comedy about a georgous young woman stumbling into an eccentric millionaire's mansion and the commotion she causes. Later cut to 94 minutes, and reissued as Diary of Forbidden Dreams. This is the original 110 minute, letterboxed version.

WHAT A WOMAN! (aka Lucky To Be a Woman)
(1958) Sophia Loren, Marcello Mastroianni, Charles Boyer. Saucy Italian comedy about a beauty whose picture winds up on a magazine cover turning her into an overnight sensation. English dubbed. 95 minutes.

THE YEARS BETWEEN
(1946) Michael Redgrave, Valerie Hobson. Long thought dead, a man returns from the war to find his wife about to remarry and that she has taken over his seat in Parliament! Oft-told story, gets a sensitive treatment with expert performances by all. Original British release version, 98 minutes.

THE YOUNG LAND
(1959/89m) Pat Wayne, Yvonne Craig, Dan O'Herlihy, Dennis Hopper, Ken Curtis. Unusual socially conscious western finds novice lawman Wayne forcing town to confront its racism. Hopper turns in a raucous performance as a young bully who murders a Mexican.

YOUNG WIVES' TALE
(1951) Joan Greenwood, Nigel Patrick, Audrey Hepburn. Marital mix-ups and the post war housing shortage provide most of the laughs in this situation comedy from Britain most notable for an early appearance by its fledgeling co-star Audrey Hepburn. 79 minutes.
