Yojimbo
(1961) The new Bruce Willis (Last Man Standing) remake may prove to be not as cool as the last Clint Eastwood (A Fistful of Dollars) remake, but this digitally remastered, letterboxed version of the original Kurosawa, with enhanced subtitles and that classic Toshiro Mifune squint, is bound to please anytime! Yojimbo was a tongue-in-cheek portrait of human weakness, greed and violence that replaced the cleancut American Western hero with a cynical samurai mercenary to great acclaim, including a best actor award for Mifune at the Venice Film Festival.
