Wishman's Grindhouse

Synopses | Article | Bibliography | Other Media | Home

Doris Wishman began shooting "pulp-fiction" flicks in the early 60s. Some were just bathing beauty featurettes like "Nude on the Moon," advertised as having been "approved by the American Moonbathing Association."

You might remember her from yet another segment of the "Incredibly Strange Film Show" series. Her films were so heavily post-dubbed they border on the Godardian.

Some of the stronger material displayed the name of Louis Silverman, though Wishman eventually became best-known for films she made as herself, like "Let Me Die a Woman." She is still alive, and has just finished another movie - we'll let you know if we find out more about it.

NIGHT TO DISMEMBER
Directed By: Doris Wishman
Starring: Samantha Fox, Diane Cummins and Saul Meth.
The fabulous Queen of Exploitation, Doris Wishman, is back. A NIGHT TO DISMEMBER is a horror film that approximates the twisted logic of a narcotic laced carnal nightmare. It's a jaw-dropping spectacle only Wishman could conceive. The film stars hardcore legend Samantha Fox, in her only, uh - legitimate role. Doris Wishman is a one woman gang who wrote, produced, directed and edited her films in a career spanning four decades. She resisted the courtship of the major studios early on, and the suppressing conventions of mainstream culture and easy critical classification throughout, to produce one of the more idiosyncratic world views ever committed to film. Upon her release from an insane asylum, suspected murderess Vickie Kent (Samantha Fox) returns to hearth and home ... but is she cured? SPECIAL FEATURES INCLUDE Promotional Footage Audio Commentary by director of photography C. Davis Smith and DORIS WISHMAN herself. Bad Girls Go To Hell/ Another Day Another Man (Special Edition)
Year: length: 134 tint: Rating: Unrated
Directed By: Doris Wishman
Starring: Gigi Darlene, Darlene Bennett, Tony Gregory, Barbi Kemp, Rita Bennett, Sam Stewart
Synopsis: A demented drive-in double feature from director Doris Wishman! Gigi Darlene learns that "Bad Girls Go to Hell" (1965, 64 min.) when she's attacked by a janitor with bad teeth, accidentally kills the guy, then flees to New York--where her troubles really begin! With its crazed plot, rampant nudity, and predatory sex maniacs, "Bad Girls Go to Hell" is one of director Wishman's wildest "roughies" which, amazingly, was theatrically re-released in 1998! In the second feature, "Another Day, Another Man" (1966, 70 min.), Ann, a "Miss Prim" with a giant hairdo, doesn't approve of her friend Tess' occupation as a prostitute, nor of Tess' employer, Bert the pimp. But when Ann's husband suddenly gets a mysterious illness, she has to find some way to pay the bills and, yup, quickly becomes one of Bert's girls. With a hilariously tragic ending and Wishman's trademark camerawork that seems to be constantly distracted by inanimate objects, "Another Day, Another Man" also stars Gigi Darlene as a hooker whose hayseed boyfriend gets manhandled by sexy twins Rita and Darlene Bennett. Two lunatic masterpieces from the woman who gave the world "Deadly Weapons" and "Double Agent 73."

Double Agent 73

Directed By: Doris Wishman
Starring: Chesty Morgan, Harry Reems, Denise Purceli, Saul Meth, Frank Silvano, Jill Harris
Synopsis: Chesty's back and ready to explode! Chesty Morgan, whose 73-inch breasts were the twin stars of "Deadly Weapons," is back in this screwy spy epic from director Doris Wishman (Nude on the Moon). The shocking, excessively bosomed Miss Morgan plays Jane, a.k.a. Double Agent 73, whose assignment is to bust up a heroin ring and discover who the ringleader is. To accomplish this, she must take photos of everyone via a miniature camera surgically implanted in her left breast. Really. Whenever it's squeezed, a camera shutter clicks and a flash goes off. Honest. But get thi--the camera is also a time bomb, thus making her boob... well... booby trapped! Besides Chesty committing one fashion crime after another, there's also a bloody shower stabbing, a ridiculously sped-up car chase, and far too much cinematic insanity to be listed here. Doris Wishman's films are often startling, but this one is a full scale assault on your senses!

Amazing Transplant, The
Directed By: Doris Wishman ("Louis Silverman")
Starring: Juan Fernandez, Linda Southern, Larry Hunter, Olive Denneccio, Kim Pope
This barely lucid, nasty sex-mystery with rapes galore bends the laws of logic so severely, a pretzel would seem linear in comparison. To put it simply, this is DORIS WISHMAN's penis transplant movie. When Arthur (JUAN FERNANDEZ, a sometimes Wishman cameraman) abruptly strangles his fiancee, detective Bill Barlen (LARRY HUNTER) investigates by interviewing an assortment of nubile young women from Arthur's past. One by one, they recount their violent sexual escapades with amorous Artie as detective Bill stares at their laps. Rape! Passion! Gold Earrings! What has turned formerly dorky Arthur into a sex crazed stud-machine who turns rapist at the mere sight of cheap gold earrings hanging from cheap cold women? The protuberant answer is found dangling in the office of Dr. Cyril Meade where Barlen eventually learns the amazing truth about The Amazing Transplant. Jealous of his late friend Felix's prowess with women, Arthur blackmailed the doctor into slicing off his inadequate, little-used cocktail weenie and replacing it with the virile, babemagnet member of dead Felix. Unfortunately, though sporting the spunky new spurter of Felix, poor Arthur is shocked to discover that he has also inherited Felix's funky fetish - namely a desire to violently bounce atop any young woman wearing gold earrings - an authentic phenomenon current medical books also refer to as "dick brain." Seemingly written by a group of Swedish school kids just learning English and edited by a bread slicer, this is one of Doris Wishman's most outrageous, jaw dropping epics. (Though Doris directed it, the director's credit is given to the name of her then husband, Louis Silverman.) With KIM POPE (Sticks and Stones), slimeball supreme Larry Hunter (All Women Are Bad), wall-to-wall sex, and dialogue that always seems to be recited while the camera is looking somewhere else, The Amazing Transplant offers a psychotic look at a world where men think only with their dicks... even if their dicks are borrowed. Believe me, nothing in Miss Wishman's previous works can quite prepare you for this. This Special Edition features a new digitally remastered transfer from the 35mm Wanker-with-a-Wish-List negative, the original theatrical trailer, trailers for Wishman's Deadly Weapons, Double Agent 73, The Immoral Three, and The Love Toy, and a Gallery of Doris Wishman Exploitation Art! Plus: keep your pecker happy with the U. S. Navy's archival short Sex Hygiene, and everything you always wanted to know about schlongs is explained in the short subject, "Penis Facts 1952"! - Marc Klapper

Another Day Another Man
Directed By: Doris Wishman
Starring: Tony Gregory, Barbie Kemp, Mary O'Hara, Sam Stewart, Darlene Bennett, Rita Bennett, Gigi Darlene
Newlyweds Ann (BARBIE KEMP of The Bed and How to Make It), a "Miss Prim" with a giant, gravity-defying hairdo, and Steve (giant-eyebrowed TONY GREGORY) move into a "beautiful" furnished apartment when he gets a raise. Ann promptly quits her office job to become a housewife, and leaves behind a busty, chain-smoking roommate, Tess (MARY O'HARA), who works as a prostitute for sleazy Bert The Pimp (played by sixties sexploitation stud SAM STEWART growling a horrific dubbed voice). (In a flashback, Bert recalls some of his best gals, played by some of the best of director DORIS WISHMAN's stock players. Since real-life twins Dolly and Daisy - DARLENE BENNETT and RITA BENNETT of Sex Perils of Paulette and Too Much Too Often - love being whores, Bert picks up farm-fresh Meg - GIGI DARLENE of Bad Girls Go to Hell - at a bus station and introduces her to the twins. The gals quickly become fast friends by doing The Twist in their undies. But - oops! - Meg's hayseed boyfriend shows up wanting to marry her. Meg leads him on, but not before the twins have a chance to manhandle him and each other!) Bert also ends up intruding in Ann and Steve's lives after their happy honeymoon comes to an abrupt end when Steve suddenly gets deathly ill and is forced to remain bedridden for months. (Oddly, he doesn't need to be hospitalized. He just needs to lie on his back and stare at the ceiling.) With Steve out of work and the bills piling up, Ann needs some fast cash and, with typical Doris Wishman non-logic, has no other option in the whole wide world than to become one of Bert's girls! Yes, during the day she plays nursemaid to her ailing hubby but, at night, she turns call girl with clients that include a guy who insists on wearing a Lone Ranger mask to conceal his identity. (Apparently, deathly ill husbands require no special attention during the evening hours.) The punchline comes when Ann is out on a date, and Steve is informed by his doctor that he's well again. Just like that. Overjoyed, Steve races to the address Ann accidentally left behind and makes a shocking discovery... With its hilariously tragic ending and Wishman's trademark camerawork (courtesy of cinematographer C. DAVIS SMITH) that seems to be constantly distracted by inanimate objects, Another Day Another Man is quintessential Doris featuring enough cleavage, black-lace lingerie, and stiletto heels to keep even the most avid fetishist interested for days. And if you've ever wondered where that catchy tune SWV uses at the end of most of its videos came from, look no further. This Special Edition features a new digitally remastered transfer from the 35mm "Hooking-for-Her-Husband" negative, original theatrical trailers for other Wishman classicks, and a Gallery of Doris Wishman Exploitation Art! - Lisa Petrucci

Bad Girls Go to Hell
Directed By: Doris Wishman
Starring: Gigi Darlene, Darlene Bennett, Sam Stewart
"You... You... You... Do You Know that Bad Girls Go to Hell?" This is the first of a string of black and white "roughies" from the grand dame of grindhouse, Ms. DORIS WISHMAN. After working out her sexual frustration with a little semi-nude housework - a classic Wishman moment of pointless / obsessive detail - horny Chicago housewife Meg (doe-eyed and doughy GIGI DARLENE from Hot Nights on the Campus and White Slaves of Chinatown) is suddenly accosted by her apartment building's missinglink janitor (who sports buck teeth and a come-and-go Slavic accent). When he threatens to tell her husband, Meg bashes in what little brains he has with a bowl. (We see his p.o.v. of inside the bowl after it's killed him!) Not one to think things through, Meg hops on a bus for New York City. Once there, her semi-lobotomized demeanor practically screams "Please Molest Me!" to every lunatic she encounters, including a hardcore teetotaler (Wishman regular SAM STEWART, also in My Brother's Wife) who becomes a belt-swinging maniac after a single drop of booze; a predatory lesbian (DARLENE BENNETT from Another Day, Another Man); and a yappy landlady's simian husband, who pounces on Meg seconds after she enters his house. Finally, Meg finds some stability working for an (endlessly whining) invalid until the invalid's son shows up - a cop investigating the case of a murdered janitor in Chicago! Holy (and wholly) implausible coincidences! Just as the law closes in, Meg wakes up and realizes it's all been a bed dream and, lucky us, we then get to watch the first ten minutes all over again, right up to where she meets that fat bastard of a janitor who promptly jumps on her. Only this time, it ain't a dream... Despite its crazed histrionics, there's a genuine subtext lurking deep inside (if you'll pardon the pun) Bad Girls Go to Hell - namely, is Meg a "Bad Girl" because she has an active sex drive, and does she deserve to Go to Hell because of it? But if stuff like that makes your puzzler hurt, you can still enjoy the usual Wishmanisms that run rampant throughout - the tortured, guilt-ridden characters, the obsessive running-feet shots, and the urban nightmare settings. The perfect cherry-breaker for the Doris Wishman virgin in your life. Deadly Weapons
Directed By: Doris Wishman ("Louis Silverman")
Starring: Chesty Morgan, Harry Reems, Greg Reynolds, Saul Meth
"Do you know that the female breasts, known to be the source of life since Eve, can be... Deadly Weapons!" - so exclaims the narrator of the trailer for this DORIS WISHMAN masterpiece. And what better way for the Queen of Sixties Nudies to shake up the seventies than with a story about a pneumatic woman who uses her God given (I hope) physical attributes to do away with the men who have wronged her. She is Woman... hear her roar. Filmed primarily at Wishman's own apartment in Belmont Park, Deadly Weapons casts the eye-popping, watermelon-breasted CHESTY MORGAN as Crystal, a "successful advertising executive" who awkwardly clunks around in tight tops, short shorts, and ridiculously high, corked heels. She also sports a really bad Carol Brady wig, and is in love with Larry (GREG REYNOLDS), a small-time gangster who makes the mistake of stealing a little black book for blackmail purposes. After an awkward sex scene (during which Larry tells Crystal, "You feel so soft and warm, baby," as her huge boobs bash against his leg), Larry goes for a walk while Crystal examines her breasts in the bathroom mirror as if it's the first time she's ever seen them. The double-crossing Larry is soon killed by two of his associates, Captain Hook (so named because he wears a patch over one eye) and Tony, played by seventies porn superstar HARRY REEMS (Deep Throat), with his trademark handlebar moustache already in full bloom. Unluckily for them, Crystal overhears the murder on the telephone... including the killers' names and the motels they plan to be hiding out at! Posing as a stripper, she packs her bag and heads for seedy Las Vegas where she corners Captain Hook and smothers him to death. I don't have to tell you what with. Crystal then zeroes in on Miami and easily locates Tony, meting out the same breast mauling punishment to him. The pose Chesty adopts before closing in for the kill is amazing - it's kind of like a distorted karate position - and there's a great electric guitar warbling whenever she raises her breasts in anger. I won't give away the surprise ending but it leads to a tragedy of Shakespearian proportions. Deadly Weapons proved to be the biggest hit of Wishman's career and she and Chesty were soon back in action with Double Agent 73, a follow-up of sorts. Oddly, Miss Morgan is billed simply as "Zsa Zsa." What, she didn't think her family would recognize her? From the 35mm "73-32-36" negative. - John Harrison, Reel Wild Cinema

Diary of a Nudist
Directed By: Doris Wishman
Starring: Davee Decker, Norman Casserly, Delores Carlos, Joan Bamford, Maria Stinger
"There are plenty of good reasons for the nudist philosophy," reads a naked man to an attentive group of naked people at the opening of the naked epic Diary of a Nudist, which also features the bouncy theme song, "The Sun-Lovers' Blues": "Read the story on page one / 'bout the lovers of the sun..." Newspaper editor Arthur Sherwood (NORMAN CASSERLY) is out on a hunting trip one day when he stumbles across a nudist camp "not 60 miles" outside the town limits! Enraged, he returns to the Evening Times office and summons his star reporter, Stacey Taylor (DAVEE DECKER), to go cover this shocking news story: "I want a reporter in that camp for a few weeks! This is big! Really big!" Stacey is not thrilled at the prospect: "Has it ever occurred to you that sometimes I'd like to be thought of as a woman, and not always as a reporter?" she exclaims tearfully. Nevertheless, she takes the assignment and after a few days of nude sunbathing, swimming and volleyball, goes completely native. Missing deadlines and dancing around naked while being sprayed down with a hose, Stacey eventually sends back glowing reports of the health benefits of the nudist lifestyle until Arthur calls her onto the carpet to explain herself. "You sent me to do an exposé, and I find nothing to expose!" Stacey proclaims. Arthur promptly fires her, so Stacey challenges him to go down and see the nudist colony for himself. Determined to write his own article, Arthur checks into the nudist camp - though he inexplicably keeps his Speedos on throughout his stay. Stacey is still furious with him and they exchange a few heated words on journalistic ethics while standing around in the buff. When Arthur goes out for a pack of cigarettes, Stacey sneaks into his cabin and reads the headline he has written: "Nudist Exposé: The True Facts about Nudism!" Outraged, Stacey goes to confront the Camp Director and expose Arthur but - surprise! - Arthur has written a positive article on nudism! Hooray! "I've acted stupidly," Arthur apologizes, "I could have saved a lot of time if I'd just listened to you! And... I love you!"And so Stacey finds True Nudist Love - despite losing her job and her byline. Director DORIS WISHMAN's third feature film (and third-in-a-row nudist camp movie), Diary of a Nudist is easily one of her most dumbly enjoyable. A.k.a. Nature Camp Confidential, it's chock full of nudist-camp cuties including DELORES CARLOS (The Beast That Killed Women), JOAN BAMFORD (Gentlemen Prefer Nature Girls), MARIA STINGER (Girls Come Too!), ALLISON LOUISE DOWNE (star of Nature's Playmates and billed here as Bunny Downe), and other familiar Florida lovelies. Bring plenty of sun-tan lotion! From the 35mm "To-Write-This-Story-She-Had-To-Live-It!" negative. - Janer Harvey, www.junglegirlstudios.com

Double Agent 73
Directed By: Doris Wishman
Starring: Chesty Morgan, Frank Silvano, Saul Meth, Jill Harris
There should be a star on Hollywood Boulevard - actually, there should be two of them - for the greatest sex freak of them all, CHESTY MORGAN, whose frighteningly pendulous 73" Hooters from Hell are the twin stars of Deadly Weapons (1973) and this even crazier follow-up, Double Agent 73. Unlike today's artificially inflated honkers, Chesty's bazooms were all natural. Looking more like tumors than tits, they're the fleshy focus of this utterly crackpot DORIS WISHMAN gangsters-and-gazongas epic. Miss Morgan plays Jane, aka Agent 73, whose assignment is to bust up a heroin ring and discover who the big bossringleader is. To accomplish this, she must take photos of everyone via a miniature camera surgically implanted in her left breast. Really. Whenever it's squeezed, a loud clicking sound is heard and a flash goes off. Honest. But - get this - the camera also has a time bomb in it (!), thus making her boobs, well, booby trapped. This really is the plot, folks. But what is perhaps most hilarious about Double Agent 73 is that it is not, repeat, not a comedy. In fact, it's rather perversely violent. Chesty kills people right and left: she strangles a nurse, suffocates a man by filling his mouth with ice cubes (?!), and poisons a man with her nipple. She even hauls off and whacks a mobster across the face with her giant jugs. Just viewing Miss Morgan's mountains is exhausting. Though they're almost always on display, each unveiling nevertheless becomes an event. It's like watching a car accident; though you want to turn away, morbid curiosity compels you to stare. Watching a topless Chesty saunter around with her nipples practically scraping the floor is a spectacle akin to Godzilla trampling Tokyo. To see it is to disbelieve it. A non-stop fashion disaster - we especially love her red platform shoes - Chesty often looks like a walking ad for pharmaceuticals. One gets the impression her acting consisted of gulping some downers and having the crew prop her up somewhere. She constantly looks like she's either about to nod out or just fall on her face. Her soothingly monotone dubbed-in voice only adds to the surrealism. Director Doris Wishman always had an odd penchant for arbitrarily cutting away to inanimate objects during a scene. Here, she wallows in shoes. This film loves shoes. No matter what's happening in a scene, we're sure to be kept apprised of the characters' footwear. There's also a bloody shower stabbing, a ridiculously sped up car chase, and far too much cinematic insanity to be listed here. Exploitation films can often be quite startling, but this one is a full scale assault. From the 35mm ultra-knockered negative. - Frank Henenlotter

"Witness The Breathtaking Story... The Secret Hideout... The Mystery of Woman!" Anne (JOAN BAMFORD) and Tom (LON ALEXION) work in a small real estate office, but must keep their marriage - and (gasp!) nudist lifestyle - from their uptight boss, Mr. Bennett (Nude on the Moon's Professor, WILLIAM MAYER). When Bennett finds a card on the floor that reads "Member of the American Nudist Organization," he goes berserk and fires Tom, even though Tom is in the middle of closing a major deal with important client Al Jenkins (Blaze Starr Goes Nudist's GENE BURK). Despondent, Tom goes to relax at his friendly local nudist camp - specifically, the Sunny Palms Lodge in Homestead, Florida - and sits around naked in a lawn chair, moping: "It's hard to look cheerful when you don't know how you're going to pay the rent!" Camp Director Bill Hardy listens to his sob story, then lets Tom take over as temporary Camp Director for a few weeks, while Bill goes on vacation. (Though, you have to ask: where do you go on vacation when you're a Nudist Camp Director?) Happy as Temporary Director, who does Tom run into at the nudist camp but, yup, Al Jenkins! It turns out Al's been a nudist for years: "And it's made me a better and more tolerant person!" Jenkins and Tom then decide to cook up a plan to "teach that old proverb-spotter" Bennett a lesson. Jenkins calls Bennett and tells him that he would like to invite him to "spend the weekend at my club" and, there, close the deal. Bennett agrees and arrives on Friday night, but is in for quite a shock Saturday morning: "Good heavens, what kind of place is this! These people have no clothes on!" To calm him down, Jenkins takes Bennett on a tour around the club, carefully explaining how natural and hygienic nudism is, and demonstrating that... well, Gentlemen Prefer Nature Girls. Bennett gets to observe a nude volleyball game, nudists playing basketball, a nude accordion sway-along, nude teeter-tooter, and even some nude archery (taught by Scum of the Earth's sex fiend, CRAIG MAUDLSLAY, JR.), But what really sells him is the work of "Ben Jones, famous botanist," who did the landscaping and is also, incidentally, a nudist. "I suppose I was a tyrant, but I see things differently now!" proclaims Bennett. Yes, another tight-ass boss saved by nudism, courtesy of director DORIS WISHMAN, whose entire career was, at this early junction, made up entirely of one nudist camp movie after another. Immoral Three, The
Directed By: Doris Wishman
Starring: Cindy Boudreau, Sandra Kay, Michele Marie, Robert S. Barba, Joe Saverio
Forget Charlie's Angels! If you're looking for stylish 70's chicks kicking major ass, The Immoral Three is the real bra-less deal! "They Love! They Kill! There's Nothing They Wouldn't Do!" screams the ad line for this alleged "sequel" to Double Agent 73. But if you haven't seen the original, don't fret - this film has nothing to do with it. Aside from the fact that she's played by someone who bears no resemblance to Chesty Morgan, Double Agent 73, a.k.a. Jane Tournay, is strangled to death right after the opening credits. Once you've seen the introductory montage - see Jane sleep with men in Moscow and Munich, slip them mickeys, and stab them with pitchforks! - you're completely caught up and ready to follow the adventures of her three daughters - Sandy, Ginny, and Nancy - as they attempt to avenge her death and collect their three million dollar inheritance. But our heroines are not particularly vengeful. On her first trip out to find her mother's killer, Ginny meets a young stud and proceeds to get so sloppy drunk that she not only spills her guts, she goes into an extended dance/strip tease in his living room! Luckily, the gentleman in question is not only friendly, but claims to know who killed Mom. Sadly, just as he's about to announce the killer's name, a hand comes out of the closet and slits his throat, forcing Ginny to quickly split. After having sex with a stranger in an elevator, Ginny then goes on to confront another possible suspect in Las Vegas, who helpfully tells her, "Your mother was nothing but a whore!" Incensed, Ginny throws a drink in his face and promptly falls out of her platform shoe. In the ensuing wrestling match, she manages to stab the man in the head with a goblet, and finally clock him with an ashtray. She tearfully calls Nancy, who soothes her by saying, "Well, we always knew that one of us would have to commit murder." "Yes," sobs Ginny, "but I'm not even sure it was the right guy!" Meanwhile, sister Sandy, who can't be bothered tracking down the killer, sits around sucking provocatively on bananas and harassing the hired help. Nancy, on the other hand, changes into a variety of Diane Von Furstenberg knock-offs, wrestles a grabby ex-beau of her mother's, and finally gets killed and strung up in the shower. In the end, the words on Sandy's rhinestone-studded belt buckle seem to sum it up nicely: "Oh Shit..." The Immoral Three is another whacked job by director DORIS WISHMAN. Fans of Bad Girls Go to Hell and Another Day, Another Man will be glad to see the Wishman trademarks - bizarre camera angles, violent wrestling sequences, and plenty of lolling around in half-off negligees - are here in full force, and stylishly updated for the swingin' 70's with lurid color and judicious use of a fisheye lens. Indecent Desires
Directed By: Doris Wishman ("Louis Silverman")
Starring: Sharon Kent, Michael Lawrence, Trom Little, Jackie Richards
A pseudo-voodoo tittie-sex-thriller about the toy-doll molester in all of us. Zeb (MICHAEL LAWRENCE) is an especially creepy weirdo-nerd who finds a child's doll and a cheap ugly ring in a trash can. He prominently sets the doll on a table in his dingy apartment and puts on the ring. Unable to resist his Indecent Desires, Zeb then feels the cool, curvy, plastic flesh in his sad, eager hands... Across town, a pretty blonde secretary named Anne (SHARON KENT) is dressing for work. Suddenly, she feels invisible hands! On her breasts! On her thighs! Touching and caressing her buxom body with thoughtless abandon! Possessing only the tiniest of brainpans, Anne nevertheless goes on with her pretty-blonde-secretary-life convinced that nothing is wrong. Creepy Zeb, however, has other plans. Conducting nightly touchy-feely sessions with the doll, he mauls the little dolly while, at the same time, Anne's clothes slide off her body as she's magically molested. But when The Creep spots Anne with her boyfriend, Tom (TROM LITTLE), he gets mad, goes home sulking, and shoves a lit cigarette in the doll's face. Poor Anne. She tries unconvincingly to explain the huge welt on her upper lip the next day at work. Her friend, Babs (JACKIE RICHARDS) - who likes to get naked and kiss herself in the mirror, and would gleefully fuck any man who walks unannounced into her apartment - tries to help. But Anne, who thinks she's going insane, refuses to talk about it and continues to suffer a series of long-distance feel-ups and, on at least one particularly special occasion, an old-fashioned whipping... Directing as "Louis Silverman" (the name of her second husband), Indecent Desires is another of DORIS WISHMAN's unsparing yet laugh-producing forays into mankind's dark web of pathological longing. It also comes complete with a jazzy European-type score, surreal off-camera dialogue that sounds like everyone's talking in slow motion, lots of bright lights, and a truly loony, neck-breaking finale. It's also safe to say that this is unlike any other motion picture you've ever seen. Period. From the 35mm supernaturally-sicko negative. - Marc Klapper

Keyholes Are for Peeping
Directed By: Doris Wishman
Starring: Sammy Petrillo, Phillip Stahl, Lou Silverman, Angel Spirit, Alex Mann
With Keyholes Are for Peeping, director DORIS WISHMAN relinquished the roughie, an exploitation staple she helped popularize with such purulent productions as Another Day, Another Man and Bad Girls Go to Hell, in favor of a retreat to the saucy sexploitation stylings comprising the bulk of her early career, and created her first out-and-out sex comedy. But wait! This isn't just an ordinary Doris Wishman sex comedy. Oh, no. This is a Doris Wishman sex comedy starring that oddball Jerry-Lewis lookalike of such hits as Bela Lugosi meets a Brooklyn Gorilla (1952) and Shangri-La (1961), SAMMY PETRILLO! And, together, they've made a sex comedy quite unlike any other sex comedy on the face of the earth. The humdrum home life of Stanley Bebble (Petrillo, billed here as Samuel) takes an upward turn after he completes a correspondence course on marriage counseling (a curriculum no doubt championed by Sally Struthers). Delivering hand-written business cards ("900 Cliteros [sic] Rd., Babcock, NY") to his naughty neighbors, Stanley stumbles upon the building's south-of-the-border super, Manuel, seconds away from jerkin' his gherkin in response to a parade of promiscuity spied through a randy couple's keyhole. Deciding to help the handyman in his search for a woman, Stanley plays Cyrano to Manuel's Christian, coaching the jittery janitor from the sidelines in his attempts to snag a stacked tenant. The comely cutie doesn't hang around for long, however, after Manuel mangles, "You are the quintessence of beauty" into "I like to poot my theeng between your boobies!" Despite the failure of his first case, Stanley, frequently lapsing into Jerry-Lewis mode, continues to dole out his half-baked advice to an ever-increasing line of lovelorn losers hoping to recharge their rundown romances (giving Wishman ample cause to festoon the feature with seemingly endless flashbacks of fornication). As expected, the tenacious therapist's good fortune soon tumbles straight down the toilet after his girlfriend, Katie, startles Stanley's dimwitted, doting mother (also played by Petrillo!) with news of his recent marriage proposal. The things a guy's got to do to get a halfdecent piece of ass... Featuring feigned fuck footage the director would later transplant into Let Me Die a Woman, Keyhole's deluge of down-and-dirty delights, while presented in Wishman's trademark warts-and-all style, attains a level of artifice somewhat absent from her earlier efforts. The scrumpin' and bumpin' sequences are lovingly tinted to distinguish them from the rest of the production and, if one can divert one's attention from the grinding genitalia during the tight shots, it almost looks like Doris was actually considering the concept of scene composition! This is one Keyhole that's far too good for the likes of the average grindhouse ghoul. From the 35mm wacky-Wishman negative. - Vince Bonavoglia, Media Unleased (www.dvdunleashed.net)

Let Me Die a Woman
Directed By: Doris Wishman
Starring: Dr. Leo Wollman, Deborah Harten, Lisa Carmelle, Frank Pizzo, Harry Reems
"The homosexual is a male who wants the sexual love of another man. He does not want to have his penis removed by surgery. The lesbian is a female who prefers to have sexual relations with another female. She does not feel the necessity for having a penis. The transvestite is content to dress in the clothing of the opposite sex. And, while doing so, will very often become frustrated and resort to masturbation to satisfy his sexual needs." But what, you ask, of the transsexual? Well, brace yourself and welcome to the DORIS WISHMAN Institute of Creative Cosmetology! Now, thanks to the miracles of modern medicine, you too can finally become the man or woman you've always dreamed about! Sit back and relax as your guide, the world-famous DR. LEO WOLLMAN - "MD, PhD, doctor, surgeon, psychologist, minister, and medical writer" - transports you to the alternately tantalizing and terrifying world of the pre- and post-operative transsexual, highlighting pertinent points of the trip with medical illustrations, sundry sexual implements (fill your lover with a flood of warm, soapy fluid via the popular penis gun, always in stock at the local gift shoppe), startling surgical footage, and actual case studies culled from a cadre of satisfied customers! Yes, God help us all, this is Doris Wishman's notorious crackpot documentary on sex change! A sort of "Glen or Glenda Goes to Hell." You'll meet the lovely Angela, a black transvestite who, in addition to possessing a pair of perky breasts, proudly boasts a big honkin' hangdown - exposed in explicit detail with the aid of Dr. Wollman's wandering pointer! Next up, Alicia, the alluring Puerto Rican princess serving as the focal point of our feature, candidly recalls the spontaneous sprouting of sweater puppies confirming her suspicions that she was somewhat different from the other boys in the barrio. Last but not least, you'll encounter the exotic Debbie, a former seaman with a serious speech impediment who traded in her tiresome existence for a voracious vagina. Watch in awe as both a disturbingly large dilating device and Dr. Wollman's digits disappear into the dark recesses of her prefabricated poontang! Here at the Wishman Institute, we believe that true beauty is more than skin deep. And we'll gladly cut through as many layers as we have to in order to get at it... Equal parts mondo melodrama and staged sexploitaton shocker, Let Me Die a Woman is by far the most unrestrained and unrelenting film in Doris Wishman's outstanding oeuvre. Wielding her camera like a dildo, Wishman shamelessly probes the private areas of her participants, both off and on the operating table. This one has it all: gratuitous shots of gnarled genitalia, scandalous sexual antics, and some of the most disturbing surgical footage ever presented. Definitely not for the faint-hearted. Love Toy
Directed By: Doris Wishman ("Louis Silverman")
Starring: Bernard Marcel, Pat Happel, Willa Mist, Vic Lester
DORIS WISHMAN, the First Lady of Exploitation, makes the ultimate Deviate's dream come true with this extraordinarily demented piece of celluloid sickness. A degenerate gambler, unable to come up with the cash necessary for a high stakes poker game, bets his nubile daughter. And loses. His daughter immediately becomes the delectable property of a hot-to-trot sex fiend and the film promptly becomes a catalogue of perversion, wallowing in domination, humiliation, fetishism, voyeurism, masturbation, lesbianism, spanking, bondage, blowjobs, incest, and more. You'll be showering for days after this one! Alex, the card shark sex pervert, was deprived of toys as a little boy. But he's got a Love Toy now, in the person of Chris, the gambler's daughter: a blonde brown-eyed piece of ass with a pouty face and perky breasts. Alex has her role-playing right out of the gate, starting with the naked little "kitten" lapping up milk from a bowl. ("She was His Pussy," the trailer boldly proclaims!) After that, she plays his mama, his wife, his child, and his mistress in one kinky sexcapade after another. He spanks her firm white fanny, rides her horsey-back around the room, then sticks his flaccid dick in her sullen (and soon-to-be soiled) mouth. Once the deck of cards is set aside, the action is virtually non-stop... Chris at first resists, making all kinds of disgusted faces as she reluctantly plays the roles forced on her, but she soon gets into it as Alex gets into her. Indeed, once her little dewpot gets lapped, she throws herself into the sexplay with fresh abandon. Even Alex's wife, Mary, "a woman without a soul," joins in the fun with her own brand of pathological sex, such as jamming a perfume atomizer up her snatch and lezzing it up with Chris. If you can believe it, things get even sicker as daughter comes on to daddy, which forces daddy to kill daughter. But wait! Chris suddenly wakes up. It was all a dream! Whew! That certainly helps take the sting off things... But then her daddy goes off to play cards and Alex enters her room and it starts all over again... Eeeeeeyyyyaaaaaahhhhhh!!! Hard to believe this came from the same woman that gave us the wholesomely silly Nude on the Moon. Wishman's first bona fide softcore sizzler is a nasty Smut Classick that's about as twisted and disturbing as it gets. Which, of course, is another way of saying that, yes, you'll love it. My Brother's Wife
Directed By: Doris Wishman
Starring: June Roberts, Sam Stewart, Bob Oran, Darlene Bennett, Rita Bennett
In a rare starring role, gorgeous sexploitation starlet JUNE ROBERTS (Flesh and Lace, Take Me Naked, and numerous others) plays sweet Mary, the object of a twisted tug-o-war in director DORIS WISHMAN's completely insane ode to marital non-bliss, My Brother's Wife. Living a loveless life with her fat, bald, and much older hubby, Bob (Wishman regular BOB ORAN), Mary's dull domesticity quickly derails when slimeball Frankie (played by type-cast lothario SAM STEWART, another familiar face in the New York nudie scene) comes to town and moves in (more ways than one) with stodgy older brother Bob. Immediately, there's some hot and heavy sexual tension between Frankie and Mary as she finds herself irresistibly attracted to the exciting (but sleazy) younger man. Poor dumb Bob, however, is completely unaware of all the sparks ricocheting around him. After Frankie strategically plans to seduce Mary and make himself at home, he further complicates things by showing up at the apartment of his old girlfriend, Zena (the ubiquitous DARLENE BENNETT, who seems to have been in every single skinflick made in the '60s). In a bit of fortunate timing, Zena is throwing a wild drunken bash and has invited many of the same people who partied in The Sex Perils of Paulette (including the dancing black gal). Zena, of course, doesn't need much persuading to welcome back the wayward Frankie with open arms. And legs. Right there on the floor. On a roll, Frankie returns home and tries to put the moves on Mary by mauling her in the kitchen. She slaps him instead and heads to Bob in the bedroom, vainly trying to arouse him. "I'm beautiful! I really am! Don't you want me?" she asks. "Mary, are you sick?" he replies. No surprise then that Mary eventually succumbs to Frankie's slimy charms, and the two begin an affair right under Bob's bulbous nose. But - oops! - Frankie is really in lust with Zena who rushes out of town when her bull-dyke cousin, Della (twin sister RITA BENNETT), gets way too clingy with her. Frankie needs money to meet Zena in L. A. so he cons Mary into giving him some cash claiming he'll run away with her. Naturally, in typical Wishman fashion, this all leads to a horribly hilarious tragic ending... Doris' b&w nudies are like tawdry pulp novels in which all life on the planet behaves like characters trapped in an especially odd soap opera. Add in Miss Roberts (undoubtedly one of the cutest gals ever in nudies) and Doris' berserk camera moves - at one point Darlene Bennett strolls over to the camera and plops her ass down on the lens! - then have it all punctuated by pointless cutaways to inanimate objects (ashtrays, feet, bric-a-brac, Buddha), and you know you're hopelessly lost in Wishmanland and will never be the same again! Nude on the Moon
Directed By: Doris Wishman ("Anthony Brooks")
Starring: Marietta, William Mayer, Lester Brown, Pat Reilly
Nude on the Moon represents everything that's perfect about American pop culture. DORIS WISHMAN's second feature, this is less a movie than a catalog of pure kitsch delirium. Stupid to the point of breathtaking, Nude on the Moon is also one of the most enjoyable examples of the long-extinct nudie-cutie. With an inheritance of three million dollars, crew-cut hunk Jeff Huntley (LESTER BROWN) decides to use the money to build a spaceship so he and his pal, "the Professor" (WILLIAM MAYER), can go to the moon. Six months later, they blast off in one rocket (a little toy model), and land on the moon in another (also a toy model). In between, they fall asleep. (And while they sit right next to each other in the rocket, they speak to one another through radio mikes and headphones.) Donning hilarious red and green pajama-like space suits that make them look like wacky super heroes, the two exit the ship and discover a Miami-like tropical paradise. (The moon was obviously full of lush vegetation in 1960.) And, yes, yes, they also discover a nudist camp right there on the lunar surface, populated by naked moon people. You can tell they're moon people because they have pipecleaner antennas on their heads. (Look carefully and you'll spot SHELBY LIVINGSTON, the gal who gets her arm axed off in Two Thousand Maniacs!, as one of the shapely moon babes.) The Queen of the Moon (MARIETTA) speaks to her people telepathically and carries a magic wand which can render humans dizzy. She's also a dead-ringer for Jeff's secretary back home which, inexplicably, neither Jeff nor the Professor seem to notice. But though Jeff never paid much attention to the secretary, he immediately falls in love with the Queen. So much so that he doesn't want to return to the Earth despite his oxygen running out... Which probably reads like more plot than there really is. Billed here as "Anthony Brooks," you can spot director Doris Wishman walking across the screen in the film's very first shot. (There's also an outrageously blatant plug for her previous film, Hideout in the Sun, 1959.) For communities that wouldn't advertise the title, Nude on the Moon became Moon Dolls. The lunar nudist camp was filmed at Homestead, Florida's incredible Coral Castle, a bizarre tourist attraction built by a Latvian recluse named Edward Leedskalnin. Jilted on the eve of his wedding by his sixteen year old bride-to-be, Ed immigrated from Latvia to the edge of the Everglades in the 1920's and, like a lowrent Gatsby, single-handedly built a sprawling home out of giant coral rocks, hoping it would someday lure her back to him. It didn't. Coral Castle can also be seen in The Wild Women of Wongo and Herschell G. Lewis' kiddie flick, Jimmy the Boy Wonder. (It was even profiled on the TV series In Search Of.) Finally, as a public service, we herewith print the lyrics to JUDITH J. KUSHNER's title tune so you too, like the rest of us, can now happily sing along with RALPH YOUNG: "I'm mooning over you, my little moon doll, With a sad and broken heart... I'm mooning over you, my little moon doll, For soon the time will come to part... I'm crying over you, my little angel, Who lives high in the sky... I'm crying over you, my little angel, For back to Earth I soon must fly... I lost my love to a moon doll, Who dances upon a star... I lost my love to a moon doll, And my heart still bears a burning scar... I long for you my little moon doll, A nymph in the pale moonlight... Passion Fever
Directed By: Nick Economon/US version Doris Wishman
Starring: Pano Katteri, Katerina Helmi, Mbeka Yiouranti, Dora Mbarnia
"The only thing that really makes life worth living is women," Yorgos tells us as he darts around in his little sports car picking up one woman after another. He's young, he's rich, he's Greek, and he doesn't want to settle down in the family business. And why should he? Yorgos really has the knack with women. They find him irresistible, either because of his "sad eyes" or because he's got ideas "more exciting then feeding ducks." (?!) When Yorgos takes Delia for a ride one day after school, she wants to show him her "favorite place." Apparently Yorgos shows her his favorite place too because, at the end of the movie, she turns up at his door pregnant. Meanwhile, a torrid romance has developed between Yorgos and Hellenic Micki, and together they literally roll around on the beach until their clothes come off and they declare their love for each other. Though Micki daily entertains an older man she calls her "uncle," she is nevertheless ready to shack up with Yorgos until the above mentioned schoolgirl jumps off a roof to her death. That apparently changes everything since the dying look on Delia's face "would always come between us." Or something. Chock full of Never on Sunday atmospherics and replete with wonderful '60s touches like conga-line parties, 45 RPM's, and authentic boozooki music, Passion Fever is a moody meditation on the swinging life style starring women who really look like women and featuring a brief female masturbation scene that must've had the censors sweating. This and The Hot Month of August, both made in Greece, were acquired by DORIS WISHMAN for release in the United States. However, she somehow or other lost the dialogue sheets needed for dubbing the films into English. With the original dialogue a mystery, and not understanding Greek in the first place, the Grand Dame of Sexploitation simply re-invented the entire plot, blissfully dubbing it away without any clue as to what was really being said. Sex Perils of Paulette, The
Directed By: Doris Wishman
Starring: Anna Karol, Anthony Greco, Darlene Bennett, Sam Stewart, Bob Oran
This is the story of Paulette (ANNA KAROL), yet another Good-Girl-Gone-BadThrough-No-Fault-of-Her-Own. A small town gal in search of fame and fortune in the Big Apple, Paulette moves in with Tracy (perennial Wishman bad-girl DARLENE BENNETT) who claims to be a model and knows lots of people in the, uh... "entertainment" business. Not only does Tracy demand two months rent in advance - leaving Paulette broke and vulnerable - but the scantily-clad strumpet then suggests that Paulette go to a swinging party where she can meet theatrical agent Sam (perennial Wishman bad-guy SAM STEWART). The naive Paulette goes to the party and is appalled by what she sees: couples in various stages of undress make out while a slender and sinewy black babe does a sultry striptease! (In fact, most of the partygoers are still at it a year later in My Brother's Wife!) Sam hits on Paulette and she flees. Wanting nothing more to do with Tracy or New York, the shaken Paulette demands that Tracy give her back the rent money but the evil manipulative bitch just laughs in Paulette's face and suggests she earn cash in "other ways." In the midst of this nasty dilemma, Paulette meets nice guy neighbor Alan (ANTHONY GRECO). They go where all lovey-dovey couples go in a DORIS WISHMAN film: yup, straight to Central Park. Upon her return, Sam is visiting Tracy and the two are going at it like dogs in heat right on the living room floor! Still randy, Sam tries for Paulette again but to no avail. It gets worse. After being stood up while waiting for an interview with a movie producer (which coincidentally takes place at Ms. Wishman's real-life office), Paulette gets a job as a waitress and is immediately fired. Totally discouraged, she narrows the focus of her career goals and settles on a life of Paid Sluttishness. Sam and a string of other studs become regulars at the apartment and Paulette passively puts up with their sexual shenanigans... until Jim (perennial Wishman bald-guy BOB ORAN), a middleaged sadist, beats the daylights out of her. Unaware of what's happened to her, Alan meets Paulette in the park again. Feeling dirty and ashamed, Paulette babbles to him all about how sordid and skanky her life has become. But - surprise! - he nevertheless asks her to marry him. And - double surprise! - she says no, obviously preferring to spend her life as a ho... Sex Perils of Paulette contains more black bras and undies, stilettos and black eyeliner than you can shake a stick at. If you've seen any of Wishman's other black & white epics, you'll immediately recognize the tackily-furnished apartments, bric-a-brac, eccentric photography (by C. DAVIS SMITH, director of The Girl from S. I. N.), and the supporting players that make her films so quirky and unique. And what's with those wheat sprigs in the vase, anyway? Taste of Flesh, A
Directed By: Doris Wishman ("Louis Silverman")
Starring: Cleo Nova, Darlene Bennett, Buck Starr, Layla Peters, Michael Lawrence
"Pleasure-starved playgirls thrust into new erotic experiences!" International intrigue, assassination attempts, and scantily-clad hostages abound in A Taste of Flesh, yet another berserk b&w nudie shot entirely in director DORIS WISHMAN's Queens apartment! Predatory lesbo Bobi (LAYLA PETERS), who shares an apartment with uninhibited exhibitionist Carol (everybody's favorite love doll, DARLENE BENNETT), invites Hannah, a beautiful gal in a mangy fright wig she met in Europe, to stay with her while she's in town. (Hannah is played by director Joe Sarno's wife, Peggy, under the pseudonym CLEO NOVA, a name she used in many of her husband's films.) But while Bobi is taking a leisurely shower, two shady "plumbers" appear and ask to check the pipes. Carol opens the door (you'd think these big city girls would know better) and Nick (MICHAEL LAWRENCE, the doll-obsessed pervert from Indecent Desires) and Frankie (BUCK STARR, the arrogant thick-lipped loser from Too Much Too Often) bust in. And surprise, surprise, they're actually Hired Assassins who have been following Hannah to find out when her boss, His Excellency the Prime Minister, will be arriving at a nearby hotel - which just happens to be right across the street. As luck (and Doris' wacky plotting) would have it, Bobi's apartment is the perfect location for a stakeout and, after persuasively pistol-whipping Hannah into divulging some pertinent details, the bumbling bozos hold the gals hostage until dawn when their intended victim is scheduled to show up. It is, of course, the perfect setting for a night of Wishman wildness. With a painfully long evening ahead of them, Carol goes into the kitchen to make some coffee only to be groped by Frankie who asks her to flee to South America with him. "Oh, that sounds exciting!" she exclaims before the two of them end up thrashing around on the floor getting rug burns. Meanwhile, Nick, Bobi, and Hannah try to sleep and Bobi has an erotic dream about Hannah which eventually turns into a scary nightmare featuring - are you ready? - pug-ugly Nick in Hannah's fright wig! (Doris, you're a genius!) After more sensual and sadistic sex games, the guys get ready to make the hit. Nick sees the intended target and shoots - but, in famous Wishman style, there's a surprise in store for them all... With her piercing eyes and delicate features, Miss "Nova" radiates a stunning and classy presence in A Taste of Flesh. Probably one of the more claustrophobic of Wishman's nudies (since practically everything happens in that damn apartment), it's nevertheless highly recommended to those who like their skinflicks surrounded by a vaguely oriental decor. The Hot Month of August
Directed By: Sokrates Kapsaskis/US version Doris Wishman

While vacationing in Greece with her second husband, Louis Silverman (although she wasn't all that keen in taking his surname in marriage, director DORIS WISHMAN was more than happy to add her hubby's handle to her ever-expanding list of pseudonyms), Wishman stumbled upon a small-time film company in desperate need of funds, ultimately returning home with the rights to The Hot Month of August and Passion Fever - purloining both productions for less than $4000. En route back to New York, Doris absentmindedly left her briefcase containing both August and Fever's translated scripts on a train, forcing her to rewrite the narratives from scratch while overdubbing the original dialogue (a prevalent practice throughout her entire career). To make matters even more bizarre, Doris decided to spice up The Hot Month of August with a slew of new sexual escapades, mind-bogglingly shot in New York sans the production's original participants. Solving the problematic situation in typically warped Wishman fashion, the director went to great (and often comical) lengths to obscure the faces of her body doubles with a variety of foreground bric-a-brac - potted plants, furniture, and a succession of undraped skin - resulting in a festival of featureless flesh that would have been more aptly titled "Planet of the Faceless Fornicators." If you thought Wishman's world was a wacky place before, you ain't seen nothing yet! On his way home from Athens, Greek stud Jason Philippi meets two women, Hope and Alexis. Though Jason's in love with Hope, he has sizzling sex with Alexis. Trouble is, Alexis is married to Yarkos, a wealthy industrialist, who has hired a private eye to spy on her, blithely unaware that Alexis and the private eye are actually secret lovers who plan on murdering him! But wait! Yarkos gets wind of their little plot and turns the tables by killing Alexis, wounding the private eye, and framing the whole thing on Jason! Arrested for murder, Jason's only hope is... well, Hope, who keeps the police (and audience) entertained with a lurid alibi... While Wishman managed to cobble together a fairly cohesive narrative from the ashes of the original, The Hot Month of August succeeds mainly on the strength of its wild sexual antics. Although even a retarded rhesus monkey could tell the difference between Wishman's new, somewhat dumpy debutantes and the original's svelte sirens, it doesn't matter much. The added gropin' and grindin' sequences are exactly as they should be: extensive, enthralling, and, best of all, occuring every five minutes. More than enough reason to watch if you ask me. Too Much Too Often
Directed By: Doris Wishman ("Louis Silverman")
Starring: Sharon Kent, Buck Starr, Bob Oran, Joanna Cunningham, Sam Stewart
Too Much, Too Often, Too Wishman! Take a deep breath, meditate for a few moments to cleanse the mind, make sure there are no sharp objects in the room, strap on a seat belt, and carefully enter the world of Too Much Too Often, yet another slice of unintentional surrealism from The First Lady of Sexploitation, director/producer DORIS WISHMAN (here billed under the name of her then-husband, Louis Silverman). But beware: your mind may never be the same... When swaggering and conceited teddy boy Mike (played by fleshy-faced BUCK STARR) isn't combing his wavy hair in a stance reminiscent of The Fonz, he's latching onto each and every female who crosses his slimy path. The guy is bad news and has everybody fooled, except Mr. Dite (rotund BOB ORAN), an advertising executive and recent recipient of Mike's services as a whip-wielding sadist. Taking advantage of the weak-willed masochist, Mike blackmails Dite into giving him a cushy job, then takes advantage of his new position by stealing Dite's clients, seducing Dite's elegant daughter, Sara (JOANNE CUNNINGHAM), and climbing his way up the social ladder. But Dite's daughter isn't enough to fill Mike's sexual appetite and he makes conquests of a parade of women who inexplicably find him irresistible. There's Lynn (SHARON KENT), the lovely college coed; Lita, the hooker with a heart of gold; Ellen, the dockside floozie whose husband neglects her; and Midge, the naive secretary who falls for Mike's lies and unknowingly gives him the information he needs to screw over Dite. He uses all of these women and discards them like old snot rags. And when Lynn tells him she's pregnant, he proceeds to beat her up. He also slaps Lita around when she doesn't make her quota, and promptly dumps Midge after she hands over the files he needs. Meanwhile, Dite desperately tries to bribe Mike into leaving his daughter alone and even tells Sara what a sick perv Mike really is, but Sara ignores him and she and Mike plan to elope. Which is when Sam (New York nudie vet SAM STEWART), a detective with a bad foreign accent, enters the scene. Angry that Mike had once-upon-a-time pulverized him and attacked his wife (DARLENE BENNETT in a rare good-girl role), Sam takes his revenge... Director Doris actually used a few different locations to shoot Too Much Too Often (as opposed to her usual apartment), but her quirky trademarks still remain: the convoluted and typically bizarre plot, the strange post-dubbed dialogue put in mouths mostly off-screen, the oddball cutaways to inanimate objects, sexploitation starlets admiring themselves in the mirror; bras, panties, fishnets and spike heels galore; and very expressive feet which share equal screen time with the actors.
