Along with The Three Stooges (Officer Joe) and The Little Rascals (Captain Jack), The Abbott and Costello Show is one of my earliest TV memories. Early in the morning and then again after school; I can still remember Costello multiplying 7x13 and getting 28, Stinky, Mike the Cop and Mr. Fields. Amazingly and to their credit these shows are still incredibly funny. They are really a collection of Vaudeville and Burlesque sketches. By the time they filmed these for TV, A&C had practiced and perfected these routines for over 20 years, making them letter perfect and preserving them at their peak.
I was surprised when Jerry Seinfeld hosted a prime time special on A&C, but after watching these shows again I am not surprised he's a fan. There are 52 episodes in all, so there is still a ways to go if you want to see all of them.
